Roloson’s 58 saves spark Isles to OT win at Toronto
Dwayne Roloson will sleep soundly Monday night … and probably deep into Tuesday as well.
His New York Islanders worked into overtime in securing a victory at Toronto, and Roloson made it happen, recording 58 saves as the Isles won 4-3.
Despite allowing a 3-0 lead slip away, Roloson steadied himself between the pipes, facing an insane barrage of Toronto offense. The Maple Leafs fired 61 shots on goal in the game.
The Isles looked like they would run away with this one, scoring a trio of goals in a 3:13 span to turn a scoreless game into a 3-0 advantage. Toronto pounded the New York defensive zone and chipped away, getting the game-tying tally at 9:18 of the third on a goal by Niklas Hagman.
Jeff Tambellini, Matt Moulson and Sean Bergenheim scored in regulation for the Isles. Josh Bailey scored the game-winning goal with 42 seconds left in overtime.
Toronto outshot the Isles 58-20 in regulation.
